After refilling the cartridge, the printer does not print

One of the main elements for the operation of the printer is a cartridge. The ink or polymer powder contained in it (depending on the model) is applied to the paper carrier under the influence of temperature, forming an imprint. Manufacturers are trying to block the possibility of using non-native consumables and components, so it is recommended to buy a new original cartridge every time.

However, it costs a lot of money, so many users resort to refueling. Sometimes after installing a refilled cartridge, problems may occur, the system displays a warning about printing problems. Possible causes of this problem and ways to resolve it, we will consider in our article.

Before proceeding with the restoration of normal operation, it is necessary to identify the cause and assess the level of complexity of the problem. Most often, when working with the inkjet version, the following malfunctions can occur:

  1. The use of paint from another manufacturer may not be supported by the equipment. In this case, the printer does not recognize the cartridge.
  2. Mechanical damage to the housing and sensors as a result of refueling.
  3. Some modern models use special recognition chips. With repeated use, they may be invalid.
  4. Incorrect installation of the element in a special compartment.
  5. Closing printheads with special tape. Sometimes users forget to remove it before use.

Some reasons may not be hidden in mechanical damage, but in software and operating system failures. In this case, it is recommended to contact a specialized service center.

Attention! Manufacturers often warn that the use of components from other manufacturers is the reason for the refusal of warranty service.

If you encounter this situation, try to identify the source and fix the problem yourself. Do not immediately disassemble the equipment and replace parts. This may cause damage and deteriorate the condition of the equipment. Also, do not change the system settings if you do not have experience in this field.

Full restoration of functioning is a complex process consisting of several interrelated stages. If you could not find the cause of the problem, use the step-by-step instructions below.

Software Diagnostics

If a normal restart and checking that the print cartridge was installed didn’t help restore printing, try troubleshooting the software. To do this, follow these steps on the computer:

  1. Connect the printing equipment to a power source and connect it to the computer using a wire.
  2. When connecting for the first time, download the software and drivers using the installation disk.
  3. Go to the system settings and set the value "Default" to print documents on the selected printer.
  4. Also clear the print queue if necessary. To do this, you need to open the print manager.
  5. If the print pause button was enabled, disable this feature.

Important! For coordinated work, it is recommended to periodically update software components and drivers.

Troubleshooting the integrated head cartridge

When using a cartridge in an inkjet printer, problems with the print head may occur. The following fault options are distinguished:

  1. Clogged nozzle with dried paint. This can occur when the container is outdoors for a long time.
  2. Erasing a work surface and damaging a chip designed to be recognized by a device cartridge.
  3. Exceeded the resource for reinstalling the sensor.

Depending on the specific situation, the recovery action plan will be different. To begin, remove dried ink, automatically or manually clean the nozzles. After that, make sure that the chips work properly. If possible, replace them. Place the container in the printer and try printing a test sheet.

Solving a problem with a device with a stationary printhead

If your print head is stationary, the troubleshooting process will be different from the previous version. Since in this case the head is built into the printer body and there is no possibility to remove it, replacing the cartridge will not bring any result.

In this case, a complete disassembly of the internal elements will be required. If you do not have experience repairing this equipment, it would be better to contact a special service center.

In laser types of devices special elements are used with coloring polymer powder (toner). If after refueling you have a problem printing documents, try the following:

  1. Open the cover covering the inside of the appliance.
  2. Disassemble the cartridge case, remove the remaining powder from the inner chamber.
  3. After that, clean the drum, removing adhered powder from the surface.
  4. Pour new polymer material into the hole. After refueling, seal it or close it with a special plug.
  5. Then put all the elements in place to continue printing documents.

The above recommendations may help in the event of a malfunction in the printer.
