Not everyone knows that manufacturers most often complete their printers with the so-called demonstration cartridges, the volume of which, in comparison with working cartridges, is very small. Already some time after such a purchase, the printer user will be forced to buy a new cartridge, the cost of which is often not low.
Therefore, it is not surprising that many people prefer to purchase fake cartridges or refill them manually. However, refueling is carried out differently depending on the types of devices. There are currently inkjet, laser and dot matrix printers on the market.
Since matrix printing devices are used for certain printing purposes (printing cash receipts, receipts), this article will focus on refueling slam-shut devices on laser and inkjet devices.
How to refill a refillable inkjet printer cartridge yourself
The low cost of the device and access to full color printing explain the popularity of color printers used for home and office printing. With intensive printing, the ink in this technique runs out quite quickly, and the cartridges begin to require refilling.
IMPORTANT!Fading or fading of the image is the first sign that the inkjet printing device will soon stop working.
Before proceeding with refueling, it is worth getting the following simple tools:
- dense cotton wool or cotton pads;
- several syringes with needles (the number of syringes should correspond to the number of colors the device prints);
- stationery knife;
- ink;
- empty cartridge;
- gloves and clothes that are not a pity to mess with;
- napkins or newspaper.
IMPORTANT!Refill is best done immediately after the ink in the printer runs out or before the device fails. Otherwise, ink residues may dry inside the cartridge, making it difficult or completely limiting.
In order to start refueling, the device is placed on napkins with the print head down. Having access to the refueling chambers of the printer, it is necessary to prepare syringes with paint. When filling the syringe with ink, you should monitor the absence of air or foam in it. The needle is driven deep enough into the filling hole, but do not overdo it and insert the needle further than 2-3 cm.
After inserting the needle, ink should be started very slowly. When refilling is completed, ink will appear in the refill hole. If suddenly there is only one syringe for “injections”, you can wash it and the needle with distilled water each time, but it will be much more reliable to use a new syringe. Excess ink should be removed with a cotton pad, and seal the holes with tape or a sticker on them. The tape over the holes will need to be pierced with a needle.
Laser Printer Refill Instructions
Laser MFPs - the choice of users for whom print quality is paramount. It can be difficult to refuel such printers with your own hands, but for many, given the prices of new cartridges, this remains the only way out.
As an example, the following will be the sequence of actions when refueling a Brother’s slam-shut device.
For refueling you will need:
- set of screwdrivers;
- a pair of rubber gloves;
- new toner.
The screws on the left end of the toner cover are unscrewed. Then you need to dismantle the cover, carefully using a screwdriver prying off the protective film. Next, you should dismantle all the gears seen except one.
Then you need to dismantle the stopper to the left of the gear, which remained in place. On the opposite side, the shaft is fixed with another screw, which also needs to be unscrewed. After that, the transfer shaft can be pulled out and the toner removed using a special vacuum cleaner. A new toner is put in place of the removed one, and all disassembled parts are assembled and assembled in the reverse order. It will be useful to wipe every detail before installing it in place.
The replaced toner printer should be checked in test print mode.
