Laser Printer Printing Defects

The printer is a very popular electrical product. It is used both in office companies and at home. This device can greatly facilitate the process of work or study, because the printer eliminates the need to write texts or draw drawings by hand.

In order to obtain high-quality images or text, it is necessary to maintain the operability of the printing device.

However, even with proper care, various defects sometimes appear during printing. The reasons for their occurrence may be several.

Printer cartridge is not able to work forever. From time to time they require refilling or replacement. However, not every printer owner is able to determine when the toner runs out and the cartridge needs to be refilled.

Modern devices have a special chip that responds to changes in the amount of toner and notifies that refueling is required. But he does it strongly in advance, so it is advisable to focus on other defects that arise when there is a lack of dye. These include:

  • Uneven and weak distribution of the coloring matter on a sheet of paper. The resulting image produces bright spots, and the image itself may be fuzzy;
  • The formation of stains on the sheets. When the pigment runs out, it can clump together. They lead to the fact that on the pages of various stains;
  • Warnings of the printing device. Current device models have a liquid crystal display, which displays information about the amount of toner. If the pigment runs out, the display will blink and display an appropriate error message. However, some devices may block the operation of the printer;

When spots are formed on sheets of paper, it is absolutely forbidden to take out and shake the cartridge of the printing device!

For image or test, not only the cartridge is used. Also the printing device has: a photodrum, a magnetic shaft, a dosing blade and a squeegee. If one of them fails with laser printers, it will immediately affect the print result.

Defects may be as follows:

  • If the photovalue is damaged, stripes and points appear on the page. The distance between them is equal to the pitch of the photocylinder. If a rounded band appears on the shaft, then a solid line will appear on the page. A very thin straight line indicates that there are scratches on the shaft;
  • The appearance of light areas is caused by the wear of the photo-film or the fact that light strikes it;
  • If the print turned out to be a clean sheet, then no power is supplied to the cylinder;
  • The gray background of the paper sheet indicates the blade wear;
  • If the squeegee does not work correctly, a gray strip with strongly blurred edges will appear on the paper;
  • The appearance of extraneous background or very dark spots on a sheet of paper indicates that the magnetic shaft has worn out or received mechanical damage;
  • Black and white transverse stripes mean the curvature of the magnetic shaft;

Even with the most careful use of the printer, various foreign bodies sometimes get into it. Most often it is paper clips or accumulated dust.

The entry of a foreign body leads to the appearance of so-called artifacts. As a rule, they are light and have a certain frequency of location. If the distance between them is 8 cm, then something else has fallen on the photodrum. If the distance is about 3 cm - a foreign body has fallen on the magnetic shaft or the shaft of the primary charge.

Getting into the printing device clips can lead to serious damage and defects in printing!

Since it is often the case that a foreign object gets into the printer, it leads to the replacement of a photodrum or a magnetic shaft, it is very important to ensure that foreign bodies do not penetrate into the device.

All printing devices use thermal film. Over time, it can begin to wear out, and in rare cases, it can be damaged. Damage causes the following defects:

  • Various dots or dirt appear on sheets of paper;
  • When feeding paper, they may start to get stuck;
  • Text or image is fuzzy or blurry;
  • In the process of printing a crunch is heard;

At damage of a thermofilm its urgent replacement is necessary. If this is not done, then the drum unit may fail!

Even the most expensive and high-quality printer can fail. Despite the fact that the most common cause of incorrect operation is a cartridge, it is very important to know about other possible causes of failure. This will allow to eliminate them in time and avoid serious repair or purchase of a new product.
