How to cut a carpet at home

In order to trim the carpet at home, first you need to make clear measurements, and then carefully and thoroughly trim the excess material. In order for the carpet to be well laid on the surface of the floor, it is necessary to take it by the edge and clamp it between the legs, performing kicks with one foot. Then pull the material to the desired location so that the carpet fits flat on the floor. The entrance to the walls should not exceed 5 centimeters, then the excess is cut off.

For cropping, you should follow a few steps. First of all, spread the carpet on the floor and make markings from the wrong side of the floor covering.

To cut the carpet correctly, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

1. Cut the flooring along the base of the threads, from the wrong side.
2. The layout of the perimeter of the room should first be transferred to the carpet.
3. For a precise fit, leave a margin of about 10 centimeters. You can always trim the excess.
4. A carpet with a looped pile should be cut very carefully, otherwise the canvas may bloom.

Then:

• lay the material with the wrong side up and using a meter ruler, draw the appropriate dimensions of the perimeter of the room;
• cut off excess pieces of flooring with a cutting tool;
• lay the carpet on the floor according to the markings.

There are several ways to trim a carpet, so consider another option.

To trim the flooring under the baseboard, it is necessary to spread the carpet along the longest wall in the room, end-to-end without overlap.
