Do-it-yourself chest shop

Multifunctional furniture is always in demand. Its main advantage is the rational use of space in your home. One of such interior elements is a chest shop. As a place to relax and store things, it will find its application in the nursery, on the balcony or in the hallway.

What you need to create a do-it-yourself chest shop

1. Edged board.Initially, a do-it-yourself chest shop was made of natural wood. You can not change traditions - now all kinds of wood are presented in stores. There is an alternative in the form of chipboard, laminate, plywood;

Important!Carefully approach the question of choosing building materials, because the durability of your product, ease of use and its estimated cost will depend on it.

2. The bar is wooden.Depending on the materials that you have chosen, we determine the type of product design: frame and frameless. For durable boards and chipboards, a frameless design is suitable. The frame from the rail or timber will have to be made to strengthen the thin materials of plywood and laminate (their thickness should be at least 16 mm);

3. Piano loop.Piano loops will allow you to easily make a reclining top in the bench, which will act as a seat. With a long cover length, several loops may be needed;

4. Self-tapping screws.With their help we will collect our bench. The length of the fastener depends on the thickness of the board. For the reliability of the frame, we select screws about 25-30 mm longer than the board.

5. Upholstery and foam.It will be needed if you will do soft sitting on the bench;

6. Assembly tool kit:

  • a tool for cutting wood: an electric jigsaw (the advantage is that it can round the edges and make curved parts), a hand saw, circular saws (popularly referred to as parquet, cut only in a straight line);
  • a screwdriver for screwing in screws;
  • The grinder is useful if the board is not processed. You can use sandpaper for stripping, however, it will take more time;
  • Roulette, a ruler, a joiner's square and a pencil are useful for measurements.

Advice! The board can be sanded in advance so as not to waste time on this work.

Product Assembly Steps

Preparatory work on creating a do-it-yourself chest bench:

  • take measurements of the place where the shop is supposed to stand in order to understand what kind of space you have;
  • determine the size. For comfortable sitting, a product of 60 cm in height and from 40 to 70 cm in width is suitable;
  • to sketch the product, a schematic image will suffice, this will help to present the final result and facilitate further work.

Assembly process:

  • cutting all the necessary elements. We cut 4 bars for the frame (they will be in the inner corners of the chest) and a board for the whole product;
  • assembly of the side walls.Two bars are laid on the surface, after which the boards are screwed on top;
  • front and rear wall mount. We draw attention to the fact that the front board must hide the bar and the end of the side board;
  • fixing the bottom. Two bars are attached inside the lower part, transverse boards are nailed to them;
  • installation of supports. The legs will allow the board not to absorb moisture;
  • assembly of the lid of the chest. It is assembled using two boards on the inside. You can add a diagonal strut for seat strength;
  • we fix the piano loop to the end side of the lid.

At the end of the work, it would be wiser to cover the chest with a stain to extend the life of your product. If desired, you can make upholstery or sew several pillows, decorate with painted patterns or burn out the ornament.

In short, a chest store can be a useful item in your home, representing a place to relax and store things. And having made this item with your own hands, you will also receive a unique designer thing.
