Experienced craftsmen advise using a frame from an old product to create a new lampshade. However, it can be made independently from wire. In advance, you should take surface measurements and prepare the necessary materials and tools.

Paper lampshade

The simplest option is to cover the ceiling with wallpaper. Choose the right paper by lighting it with a light bulb to understand in advance what light will be when the state is on. Next, you need to take measurements and cut a suitable piece of wallpaper. The plafond is removed from the leg of the lighting device and wiped with a special degreasing compound. Next, an adhesive composition is applied to it and wallpaper is glued. It is not recommended to press them firmly with your hands, as unwanted air cavities and tubercles may form. After the wallpaper dries, the lampshade returns to the leg.

IMPORTANT!You should choose interesting textured paper, as well as use collages and other photo wallpapers. You can print any picture you like.

It is also easy to decorate the lampshade with a piece of suitable fabric remaining after the upholstery of upholstered furniture or sewing curtains. This will harmoniously fit the floor lamp into the overall stylistic decision of the interior. You will need a piece of material, scissors, double-sided tape, thread and needles. Consider the manufacturing process in stages:

  • To begin with, you should disassemble the lamp and remove the old coating from it. As a result, one frame should remain.
  • Cut the fabric into even strips. To do this, at equal intervals of about 2-4 cm, it is necessary to make incisions in the direction of the warp thread. In the future, they can be torn. The length of the strips may be different, but the longer, the better, because in the future you will not need to make many connections.
  • Next, the obtained strips must be ironed and remove excess threads.
  • One of the strips is fixed on the upper side of the frame. It is convenient to do this with a thread and a needle, as well as ordinary glue.
  • Ribbons can be wound either directly on the frame itself or on a surface previously covered with fabric.
  • This strip begins to be wound around the upper and lower rings of the frame. Each next layer should overlap the previous one.
  • When the strip ends from the inside, the next one is sewn to it and the winding process is continued until the walls of the lampshade are completely covered by a fabric.
  • Then you should draw the lower and upper edge. A fabric of contrasting color can be used. A strip of about 14 cm wide is cut from it.
  • One of the edges of the strip is tucked 2 cm. And ironed, and double-sided tape is glued from the inside.
  • Further, gradually removing the protective layer from the adhesive tape, the tape is glued to the ceiling. It is wrapped on the inside.
  • In the same way decorate the bottom edge. The remainder of the tissue is cut off.

ATTENTION!You can use ready-made tapes purchased at the store. In this case, you don’t have to do the edge trim.
