How to choose an electric stove

Since then, as a person realized that food after heat treatment is much tastier, he improves the means for cooking it - first coals from a fire, then wood and coal stoves. After natural gas production was mastered, gas stoves were invented. The invention dates from the nineteenth century and belongs to the Englishman James Sharp. Electric stoves for cooking appeared in 1893 thanks to the Canadian Thomas Ahern. The German company AEG took up serial production in 1908. And what is the situation today, will be described in the article - what electric stoves exist, the criteria for their selection, as well as tips on which device is suitable for a particular room.

By type, it is possible to conditionally divide electric stoves into three large classes:

  1. Portable, or portable - small-sized devices with one or two planes for heating, are used mostly in cottages, or as a temporary replacement for a normal full-featured stove. In the case of frequent trips on business trips, it can also serve well.
  2. Built-in hobs, complete with a kitchen set to the taste of the owner.
  3. The classic version is a combined electric stove and oven. This type of appliances consumes a lot of power and takes up a lot of space, they are purchased if the dimensions of the kitchen allow a large stove to be accommodated, and the wiring meets the requirements for power consumption.

Built-in models can have a different number of burners, on which their dimensions depend. As a rule, this number varies from three to seven pieces. Classic slabs can be either narrow or full-sized. The number of cooking zones on full-size stoves is greater than on narrow ones.

As a coating used to protect electric stoves from corrosion and environmental influences, apply:

  • heat resistant, shockproof enamel;
  • glass ceramics and tempered glass;
  • stainless steel.

Each coating has its own advantages and disadvantages. Enamel, for example, makes it possible to choose products in a suitable color scheme for the interior, but relatively fragile. The stainless steel is very strong and reliable, minus it that it is quickly polluted. Glass ceramics and tempered glass give the plate an expensive and presentable appearance, but the material is unstable to mechanical damage.

Ovens are sold both independent of the hob and dependent. Since we are talking about choosing an electric stove, we can talk in this case only about the second option.

Ovens are divided into larger, full-sized and compact ones according to their dimensions. Their sizes are respectively:

  • enlarged 90 × 45 cm;
  • full-sized 60x45 cm;
  • compact 45x45 cm.

The depth of all the oven sizes listed above is 55-60 cm.

The downside of the combined devices is the congestion of the control panel and the need to bend when using the oven, which can not be said about stand-alone devices. Plus, and bold enough - cost savings when purchasing two devices instead of one.

Speaking about the fact that the sizes of kitchens in different dwellings vary greatly, as does the wiring, the main selection criteria are the dimensions, the number and size of the burners, and depending on the price of the product, also the functionality and type of control.

Dimensions

Depending on the types of electric stoves described above, the required amount of space under them changes. If portable and built-in hobs do not require a lot of space, this cannot be said for classic bulky stoves.

The height standard for an electric stove is considered to be 85 cm. The width, depending on the type and model, ranges from 50 to 90 cm. The classic version, the most common, is 60 cm. As a rule, the same size of 60 cm is observed in depth.

Size and quantityyour burner

Do not forget that with the simultaneous operation of several burners, the electric meter begins to rotate like crazy due to the very high energy consumption of the devices. Therefore, one cannot definitely say that a large number of burners of large sizes is an advantage or a disadvantage. It all depends on how necessary these expenses are. Again, the more burners and their dimensions, the larger and more massive, as a result, the stove itself will be.

Functionality

A large number of electronics with many functions is good, but not always. For many housewives, most, if not all, functions may remain unclaimed. And as practice shows, electronics breaks down the fastest, and replacing it costs decent money. In short, the most popular features in new electric stoves are:

  • the size of a ring regulated under ware;
  • multi-circuit burners with increased heating radius;
  • blocking the panel from accidental starts - useful if there are small children at home;
  • timer;
  • intense heating;
  • auto-boiling - bringing the liquid to a boil, followed by a decrease in temperature.

Type of management

The electric stove can be controlled both mechanically and electronically. Electronics provides the following features:

  • timer control;
  • indication of operating modes;
  • monitoring infrared sensors measuring the temperature of dishes;
  • use of programs for the operation of the device;
  • Possibility of touch panel control.

The first thing to learn about the stove is its overall dimensions. Otherwise, it may happen that it does not fit in the niche prepared for it.

Secondly, you should purchase goods in specialized stores, and make sure you have a certificate and quality guarantee. It is also worth immediately stipulating the conditions of warranty service, and find out what is included in it.

When buying a product, it must be inspected for mechanical damage, chips, dents and other defects. If they are found, the goods should be replaced or refuse to purchase.

The last important parameter is the power consumption of the electric stove. Before buying, you should make sure that the wiring available in the house will cope with the load.
