Why the oven in the gas stove does not light

A gas stove has become an indispensable assistant in the kitchen for any housewife. And now the market is represented by a wide variety of models of different price categories. But sometimes, even in the equipment of trusted manufacturers, the oven may not burn for some reason. At the same time, this happens at the most inopportune moment, and consumers ask themselves: "What to do in such a situation?" First of all, do not panic, because some breakdowns can be eliminated independently. You can also prevent them by following certain recommendations.

Why the oven in the gas stove does not light

The reasons why the oven ceased to light in the stove are different. A malfunction may occur in the gas leakage control system - relevant for stoves where the designated system is installed. And with problems with turning on the oven on such models, the cause of the malfunction may be:

  • the thermocouple tip has moved from the position indicated for it, and now it is not warming well;
  • the tip was clogged;
  • there are other problems that require an appeal to the masters.

Other reasons:

  1. The handle of the switch loosened. To check, you need to remove the tip from the plastic, and turn the stem. If the oven continues to burn, then the whole thing is in the handle.
  2. Problems with electric ignition. If it fails, problems with activation of the oven are also possible.
  3. Older models do not have electric ignition, which is why clogging is possible. To clean it, it is necessary to disassemble the tile body and reach the gas distribution pipes.
  4. Burner malfunction. It is possible that the place where the burner adjoins the gas pipeline is clogged, which will also require cleaning.

Reasons that You Can Eliminate By Yourself

Not always, if the oven is not lit, a call to the master is required:

  1. Lack of air. In this situation, you can try to light the oven with the door open.
  2. Gas valve. Sometimes consumers simply forget to open a separate gas valve (if one is installed), and the oven does not turn on precisely for this reason.
  3. Burner cleaning When soot falls on this part of the stove, the fuel simply will not get to the desired point due to the slight pressure. To fix the problem, you just need to dismantle the burner and clean the dirty holes.
  4. The burner is skewed. Sometimes, due to careless use or inaccurate cleaning of surfaces, the burner may warp. Due to its incorrect location, it starts to burn unevenly or the flame takes on an orange tint. To fix the problem, you only need to adjust the position of this part.
  5. The gas pressure in the pipe decreased. Sometimes this happens, and the low intensity of the fire does not allow the oven to warm up to the desired levels. This malfunction appears very rarely, and to fix it you only need to refuel the cylinder or install a new one.

IMPORTANT! In cases where the burner has stopped burning and does not light up for about 15 seconds, it is necessary to wait 1-2 minutes before re-ignition. In other cases, an explosion is likely. In addition, before trying to light the oven, you must open the windows and ventilate the kitchen.

Preventative measures

Many faults can be prevented. First of all, it is necessary to focus on the careful operation of the stove and oven in accordance with the instructions. In addition, it is necessary to regularly remove emerging contaminants. In cases where a malfunction of the equipment could not be prevented, and you do not know how to fix it yourself, you will need to contact an experienced master as soon as possible!
