DIY pool cleaner

The presence of a private pool in a private courtyard or cottage significantly increases its comfort and quality of rest. But it requires timely cleaning, otherwise the recreation area will quickly turn into a tank of water for watering the garden or washing vehicles. Some owners just try to change the water more often. But this is not an option.

Types of vacuum cleaners and the principle of their work

All water vacuum cleaners fall into three categories. Manual, semi-automatic, automatic vacuum cleaners.

  1. Tame. The cheapest option. It works on the principle of a standard household vacuum cleaner. The brush removes dirt, dust, plaque together with water they are sucked into the hose, pass through the filter, settle there, and the purified water returns to the pool. True, they are not intended for cleaning large pools. This variety is great for cleaning inflatable, frame or small pools.
  2. Vacuum or semi-automatic. More expensive and powerful device. It works as follows; the unit is connected to the suction hose of the pump - filter and is lowered into the water. Under the influence of pressure, od makes bouncing chaotic movements, lifting and sucking garbage. The only negative can be considered that this device does not cope well with small particles of garbage.
  3. Automatic or robot vacuum cleaner. Such devices have appeared relatively recently. It works completely autonomously without human intervention. It collects both large debris and small particles. It does not require connection to a central cleaning system and is able to work in both small and large pools. The only negative can be considered its high cost.

Types of cleaning

There are two types of them, chemical and physical treatment. Each of them performs its function.

  1. Chemical cleaning involves the use of water-soluble products to disinfect, increase pH, and kill harmful bacteria and small particles of debris, such as bleach. It is possible to buy them at household chemical stores.
  2. Physical cleaning is the removal of debris from the surface of the water by a net, filter pumps clean the water, and cleaning the bottom and walls of the pool from plaque, dust and dirt is carried out using specialized vacuum cleaners.

Attention! With frequent replacement of water, not only does the resource overrun, which leads to an increase in utility bills, as well as to the formation of a swampy area in places of discharge.

How to make a pool vacuum cleaner yourself

Although hand-held water vacuum cleaners are cheaper than the rest, still their prices are high, so some craftsmen have learned how to make such devices on their own at home from improvised means.

Making a vacuum cleaner from a plastic pipe for water supply

For this you will need: a plunger, a corrugated hose 2-3 meters, a plastic pipe 1.5-2 meters, plugs 2 pieces, a plunger, rubber gaskets or clamps.

Tool: soldering iron for plastic pipes, grinder, file, knife, screwdriver.

Manufacture:

  1. Cut two pieces of 10-15 cm from the pipe.
  2. Solder them into a tee to get a straight line.
  3. Along the length of the resulting structure, make an incision 3-5 mm wide and align the corners on the cut.
  4. On the edges of the sawn pipe you need to solder the plugs.
  5. The remainder of the plastic pipe is soldered to the perpendicular bore of the tee.
  6. A corrugated hose is put on the edge of a long pipe and fixed with rubber gaskets or a clamp.
  7. In the middle of the plunger, it is necessary to cut through the through hole and fix the plunger to the second end of the corrugated hose.

Everything, the device is ready. Enough plunger attach to the suction port of the filter pump and can be used.

How to make a bottom vacuum cleaner at hand

For this you will need: a material that allows water to pass through well (tulle, gauze and so on), a 100 mm sleeve with rubber seals on both sides, an adapter from 100 to 50 mm 3 pieces, a 45 degree angle, a corrugated hose 2-3 meters, a piece of plastic 50 mm pipes 15–20 cm long, clamps, a piece of linoleum, foam rubber and several bolts.

Important! All metal parts must be hidden with a cloth, insulation tape or polyethylene. Otherwise, they can scratch the surface of the pool, and if it is inflatable, then completely break the outer shell.

Tool: drill, grinder or hacksaw, needle with thread.

Manufacture:

  1. Cut adapter at 100 mm at a slight angle. Drill bolt holes, attach foam rubber and linoleum to the cut edge of the adapter with bolts so that they protrude 1–2 cm beyond the edges of the adapter. Cut linoleum so that its protruding edge resembles a brush.
  2. Insert 50 mm pipe scraps into the adapter - brush, and attach adapter No. 2 to it.
  3. Sew a small bag of material in 2-3 layers (so that it fits into the sleeve), use a rubber band to secure it in the sleeve.
  4. Connect the coupling with the bag to adapter No. 2, and install adapter No. 3 on its other side.
  5. Adapter number 3 is connected by a 45 degree angle. It is attached to it with a corrugated hose, and that, in turn, with a suction hose of the pump is a filter.

Everything, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use. Instead of makeshift brushes, you can use the cheek for furniture with a household vacuum cleaner.
