How to wash a glass ceramic hob

Vitroceramic hobs have gained popularity with their attractiveness, lightness and ergonomics. They combine beauty, convenience and durability, because glass ceramics are heat-resistant and impact-resistant material with an almost zero expansion coefficient. But from this, it did not cease to be glass, which is relatively easy to scratch or break with a point strike. Accordingly, care for the hob should be regular and gentle.

General rules for the care of a ceramic glass hob

The first and most important thing is that you can wash the stove only after it has completely cooled down. Unplugging from the network will also be an extra precautionary measure - care involves the use of water that is conductive to electricity.

Important!Glass ceramics are very sensitive to mechanical stress. There is nothing easier than scratching the surface with the uneven bottom of a pan or pan.

To avoid such troubles, you should inspect all the dishes that have to be on the stove, and mercilessly reject the one with an uneven bottom. Perhaps, along the way, there will be a reason to update your kitchen arsenal and at the same time to acquire more convenient and practical cooking utensils. And yes, glass ceramics do not like aluminum, so dishes from it should also be set aside.

The next care recommendation also applies to dishes: do not send a cold and, especially wet pan to a hot surface. The container for cooking outside must be dry, and the stove is turned on after its installation. This is due to the fact that glass ceramics is sensitive to a sharp temperature drop - it will not burst immediately, but microcracks, manifested by turbidity, will cover quite quickly.

For the same reason, it is recommended to carefully select the covers to the dishes. If you take a "foreign", large, then condensation droplets from it will necessarily fall on a hot stove. And this is not only the risk of damage, but also additional pollution. The limescale that forms during the evaporation of water is not too easy to clean.

Important!Liquids spilled on a hot induction cooker, especially sweet ones, should be removed immediately. This can be done using a metal scraper.

Do not slide the dishes on the stove. If you need to move something - lift and rearrange. It is also worth avoiding the contact of plastics and synthetics with the hob - the molten substance tightly adheres to the surface and then it is practically impossible to scrape it off.

After all the dishes have been removed from the stove, and the temperature indicator has shown that the glass ceramics have cooled down, they should be wiped with a damp sponge in order to eliminate pollution. And then, so that there are no stains, wipe dry with gauze or a rag from the fiber.

For these purposes, good housewives allocate separate sponge and rag from gauze or fiber, preferably new ones. These appliances for cleaning the stove should not be used anywhere except for washing the hob. The reason is simple: residues of detergent, drops of fat or solid particles from the sponges used elsewhere will not add to the beauty of the stove.

How to clean a glass ceramic hob

For daily removal of light pollution from tempered glass, even a tool for cleaning windows and mirrors is suitable. It is sprayed onto a cooled panel, and then wiped with gauze or fiber. Acceptable soap solution: apply, leave for 5 minutes and wipe dry.

Important! The stove should be cleaned regularly, after each cooking. Then it will delight owners for a long time with its aesthetics.

But, nevertheless, it is better to purchase special products for the care of glass ceramics: the silicone contained in them forms a thin film on the plane of the plate, which protects against strong contaminants - oil splashes and food pieces stick less and are removed much easier.

Important!After applying household chemicals, it is important to wash the glass ceramics well with clean water. Residual detergents on heating damage the hob.

Oily stains

Familiar dishwashing detergents do an excellent job with this type of dirt. To do this, a few drops of the substance are applied to a damp sponge, with which they then wipe the stain. The main thing is that after removing the fat, thoroughly clean the stove with wet gauze: residues of detergent when heating the hob can seriously damage the glass ceramics.

From obsolete soot

Such pollution is difficult to clean, but not a sentence. First, it makes sense to go the "peaceful" way:

  • the hob is freed and wiped with a damp sponge;
  • detergent is applied to problem areas and left there for 10-15 minutes;
  • dirt is removed with gauze.

If it doesn’t help, it makes sense to connect heavy artillery - a scraper. Not ordinary, but special, with interchangeable blades. Softened with detergents, soot is usually removed quite easily.

Important!The acquisition of plastic scrapers makes no sense: they can melt on a hot surface, but are useless on a cold one.

What can not be done when cleaning the glass ceramic hob

By purchasing such a plate, it is worthwhile to remove all abrasive cleaners and completely forget about the possibility of their useI'm on her plane. In addition to removing dirt, they also scratch the ceramic surface, which not only spoils its appearance, but also reduces the life of the hob.

Metal brushes, knives and other improvised means by which hostesses are accustomed to eliminate heavy pollution are also prohibited if the long service life of this attractive, ergonomic, but so expensive stove is interesting. A special scraper is much cheaper.

Alkaline detergents are also not recommended - their residues, when the plate is heated, corrodes the coating, reducing its strength.

Important!You cannot polish the stove with crumpled newspapers. For these purposes, microfiber or gauze is better suited. If you moisten the material with a small amount of vegetable oil, this will create an additional layer of pollution protection on the surface.

How to clean the hob with folk remedies

Soda - the only abrasive that can be used. But not dry, but previously diluted with warm water to the density of sour cream. The resulting paste is applied to the stains and left for 15 minutes, after which the plate is cleaned with a sponge.

If this does not help, the soda is applied to the contaminated glass surface again and left to partially dry. Then a few drops of lemon juice or table vinegar are dripped onto it. When the violent reaction stops, it remains only to wash off the product and wipe the plate with gauze.

Vinegar, diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1, perfectly copes with limescale and greasy spots. To do this, the mixture is applied to glass ceramics using a spray gun, left for several minutes and then thoroughly wiped with a clean, soft material. By the way, vinegar not only cleans, but also disinfects.

Ammonia good in the fight against burnt milk. Use it diluted in water in a ratio of 1: 5 (10 g of ammonia per 50 g of water). The solution is applied to the hob and left there for 10 minutes. After the specified time, the plate is carefully rubbed with dry gauze. A nice bonus from the use of such a tool is its extraordinary brilliance.

Olive oil It can soften dirt that does not succumb to the scraper. It is enough to moisten gauze in it and attach it to the stain for half an hour. During this time, soot is so softened that it can be removed with an ordinary sponge.

Careful care will prevent the appearance of cracks that reduce the technical and operational characteristics of the device. This means that in the future it will be easier to eliminate pollution and the equipment will last longer. Therefore, it is worth reading the instruction manual for the device: usually the manufacturer makes recommendations regarding the safe removal of scale, grease stains and other types of contaminants.

Well, a memo for hostesses: in the kitchen, vigilance is important. With a neat and attentive cook, the glass-ceramic hob will last much longer. After all, regularly spilled soup, splashing oil, or “running” milk, which shorten the working life of equipment, are phenomena that are better and easier to prevent than to clean later.
