How to get out of hibernation on a laptop

After a certain time after inactivity of the included laptop, hibernation or "sleep mode" is activated. This feature is required to save energy, and it also reduces hardware wear. But sometimes getting out of this state is very difficult.

Hibernation mode on a laptop

Hibernation mode is the state of the laptop, when it almost does not consume energy. This feature has been specifically designed for mobile battery powered PCs. Difference modes:

  1. If the device turns on sleep mode, then all active windows and applications are saved in the PC's memory, and the power consumption will only decrease.
  2. If hibernation is used, the data is not stored in RAM, but is used by the hard drive, while the laptop is completely turned off.

Reference! Thus, it is hibernation, among other means of saving electricity, is considered the best. And experts advise using this feature if the device is inactive for a long time, and then you need to quickly (within a minute) bring the laptop into working position with active windows and programs that were open before.

How to exit hibernation on a laptop: ways

To exit hibernation, you must perform the following steps:

  1. First of all, you can try to restore the work in any way, for example, click on the mouse button. If this action did not produce a result, use the back key to the previous Esc mode.
  2. After try the key combination Ctrl + Alt + Delete. In this menu, you need to click on "Restart computer", so the system will return to normal. The "Power" button on the keyboard can also trigger this action if it is set for it. You should not worry about the programs and open windows in which the work was done, the memory dump is saved in a separate file, because everything will be restored during the launch of the operating system.

It is not advised to use the "standby" or "sleep" function if difficulties arise during the exit from hibernation. Click the right mouse button on the free field of the desktop and click "Properties".

In the menu that appears, find the item "Screen Saver" and select the "Power" tab. Go to "Sleep Mode" and uncheck the box next to the "Allow Sleep Mode" line.

Why can't I exit hibernation

Sleep mode is turned on when a person, having finished work with a mobile PC, does not bother to “exit from Windows”, but simply slam the laptop.

Conveniently. During the opening of the lid, the OS does not reload completely, but starts from the moment the lid is closed. This saves time and battery power.

But, from hibernation, the device may not exit. What to do in this case:

  • To get started, press any key on the keyboard or plug in some external device through the USB connector. Perhaps this will help get out of hibernation;
  • the battery is probably discharged - connect to the laptop charging, wait a certain time until the battery is charged and press "Power";
  • there was a failure during the hibernation release - with a charged battery, press and hold down the "power" button for about 3-4 seconds - this standard action causes Windows to restart;
  • Probably, there was a failure in the settings of the laptop (most often it happens in older models) - remove the battery from the device, install it back, the PC can start to boot.

If the above actions could not help, then there was a serious breakdown and it is best to seek the services of an experienced specialist.
