How many light bulbs should be on the router

Light indicators are LEDs located, as a rule, on the front of the router.. They are created to indicate the state of the modem. With their help, it is easy to identify and eliminate any problem encountered.

Reference! Depending on the Wi-Fi router model, the number of indicators may vary, but most often they are 8 or 9.

LEDs have three states:

  • blinking;
  • continuous glow;
  • Out of Service.

In some modems, they can even change color.

Let us examine in detail what each light bulb is responsible for and what each state means.

What kind of light bulbs are on the router?

There are six main light signals on the router.

  1. Power.
  2. Sys.
  3. WLAN.
  4. WAN.
  5. WPS.
  6. LAN (several).

We will understand the appointment of each.

Power

This light indicates the power condition of your router.

Important! While the LED gives a signal - the power is supplied. The indicator is not functioning - you need to check the connection of the power cord.

It often happens that the wires become unusable. And if your modem is connected correctly, but does not work, then try to replace the wire. And then go to the service center.

Sys

This is a LED that reports information about failures and errors in the router's operation..

  • The LED is working - the router is turned on or a failure has occurred.
  • Off - an error has occurred.
  • Flashing - the router is functioning perfectly.

For the elimination of such problems you should contact the master.

WLAN

Informs about the distribution of Wi-Fi network.

  • LED is not active - the router does not distribute the network.
  • Lit - the wireless network is functioning, but there are currently no active connections.
  • Blinking indexer means successful connection and exchange of information with user devices.

Reference. You can set up a WLAN connection using a regular browser. How to do this, your provider will tell you the hotline.

Wan

Internet connection indicator.

  • The LED is not active - there is no network connection, or the Internet cable is faulty.
  • The LED is continuously lit - the cable is connected correctly, the connection is established.
  • Constant flashing indicates continuous exchange.

If an error occurs with an Internet connection, it is worth checking the integrity of the cable, as well as contact the provider.

WPS

Indicator of the same name connection.

  • Slow blinking indicates the connection process.
  • Fast flashing - connection error.
  • Off - the function is inactive.

LAN ports

  • A blinking indicates a successful connection.
  • The lights are not lit - nothing is inserted into the port.
  • On - the device is currently not functioning.

Important! If the indicator does not see the wire, try inserting it into another port. If the device is working, but the diode is lit, check the cable and device. Perhaps a malfunction in it.

What kind of light bulbs should be lit when the router is working

For correct operation of the modem such indexers should be lit continuously:

  • power and Wan;
  • and the SYS indicator blink.

For the successful operation of devices connected to the router via cable, the indicators of all used LAN ports should blink if the device is connected and functioning. Or burn, if the device is currently not working.

Do not be alarmed if something does not burn as it should. Most often, failures can be eliminated by yourself.
