How to turn on the printer

In a situation when, after connecting the printer’s cords to a computer and pressing the network button, the message “Device not detected” appears on the screen - first of all, you should deal with the reasons that caused this inscription. They can be associated with a variety of irregularities in the operation not only of the device, but of the system as a whole.

The emergence of difficulties with the inclusion most often due to the following main reasons:

  • Loss of contact in connecting cables (network or informational).
  • Incorrectly set status of the operation mode.
  • Damage or lack of a suitable driver for this model.

Important! In any case, you should not immediately “blame” the printer itself and try to replace it with a new product.

First you need to consistently and slowly to deal with the exact cause of this "misunderstanding."

Operation mode check

At the stage of hardware verification (if the PC does not recognize the printer at all), it is necessary to determine its current state, namely:

  • Through the "Start" button, and then through the "Control Panel" go to the "Devices and Printers" section.
  • Having entered it, it is necessary to reveal its condition.
  • If the device is not working, it will have the status "Offline" (offline mode).

If the mode is selected correctly ("Use Printer Online") - you will have to check the driver.

Driver problem

In that case, when the PC "recognizes" the device, but it still does not work - most likely, you will have to search for a suitable driver for it. To make sure that the upcoming actions are correct, you need to do the following:

  1. Re-enter the menu "Devices and Printers."
  2. In the list that appears, find your model.

If it is absent, and there is a red exclamation mark opposite the line - this means an error in the OS to determine the appropriate driver. For the user, this means the need to search for and install it on a PC.

Other problems

In addition to the cases considered earlier, the device may refuse to work for the following reasons:

  • problem areas associated with cartridge serviceability or ink supply problems;
  • shutting down the service responsible for printing;
  • error in the selection of the instrument by default;
  • Suspend printing due to incorrect ordering, etc.

Each of these causes is verified as all previous ones fall away.

It is possible to verify the integrity of the cords by checking them on other working equipment. This can be done on any device that has similar input connectors, or using a friend's printer, for example.

To do this, you need to be sure that the USB input jack on the computer is working. To do this, transfer the cord to one more such connector and make sure that the situation has not changed. If the printer is normally connected and all connecting cords are in working condition - you can proceed to the elimination of more "deep" causes of the malfunction.

Operation mode

When checking the operation mode of the printer, it is displayed as "Offline" (or "Offline") - select "Use Printer Online" from the context menu. As soon as this item is activated - the part should earn.

In contrast, in Windows 7, 8 and 10, in the context menu, select "View queue" and remove the check mark from the column "Offline mode".

If you find problems with the cartridge and ink supply, you should follow the instructions and try to restore the system to work. All other errors of the organizational plan are eliminated by entering the appropriate services and changing their settings.
