Which speakers to connect to the TV

Modern TV models have built-in speakers designed for a certain sound level. Additional sound devices help improve the sound. Own home theater allows you to distinguish all the sound effects and really listen to high-quality surround sound.

Which speakers to connect

The choice of external device depends on the expected result of such a connection.

Active

The simplest type of acoustics is active speakers, connected to all types of TVs. Active speakers, including regular speakers, are equipped with an amplifier. The speakers are connected via a cable with a plug, for which there is a special connector on the TV panel. The speakers are powered by electricity. All connectors are clearly labeled, so it is easy to identify the correct socket. Speakers are connected directly to the TV without adapters or other devices.

Passive

Speakers of this type are not equipped with an amplifier. To connect them to the TV, an external device is used - an amplifier.

Attention! The power of the amplifier should not be less than 30% of the power of passive speakers.

The speakers are connected taking into account their output impedance, which should correspond to the resistance of the amplifier. If it is larger, then they will sound quieter. If less, on the contrary, which can lead to the combustion of the amplifier, even if there is protection. An important condition is the polarity: the left channel is connected to the left speaker, the right to the right. Failure to do so will result in poor sound quality.

If the cable is not included in the basic package, then it is purchased separately. Recommended cable cross-sectional area is more than 1 sq. see. The higher this indicator, the more reliable the connection. If several passive speakers are used, they are connected through the AV receiver with a separate cable. The highest quality sound is obtained when using the HDMI connector. If available, preference should be given to this particular method.

Stereo system

It is an amplifier with several passive speakers of different capacities. The connection is made to the "Scart" socket via an RCA or TRS adapter cable.

Reference! Most old-style televisions have an RCA or TRS connector, they do not need an adapter for connection.

The audio signal comes out of the TV, so you should choose the connector marked "OUT" - output. Accordingly, the cable is connected to the amplifier through the jack "IN" - input. The simplest stereo system consists of two speakers and a subwoofer. This low-cost option can significantly improve sound quality. However, the full effect of high-quality surround sound can only be obtained using a composite stereo system.

Music Center

This speaker system is characterized by high-quality sound reproduction. It can be used as a sound amplifier for TV. It is connected using the RCA connector, for the latest TVs you will have to use an adapter cable. The connection is made by analogy with the amplifier: "OUT" TV connector - "IN" connector of the music center.

Home cinema

Connecting a home theater gives the best result among speakers. This is the most advanced stereo system to date. It includes a high-power amplifier and a professional-class receiver, thanks to which the output sound acquires purity and volume.

Important! Before you start connecting a home theater, you must study the instructions that came with it.

Such a speaker system is connected through the receiver using the cables "Scart - TRS" or "Scart - RCA". If the TV has an optical audio output, then the devices are connected using an optical audio cable. The signal is transmitted with the light flux simultaneously to all devices in the system.

TV Speaker Inputs and Connectors

All televisions of the latest generations are equipped with connectors for the ability to connect speakers:

  • special RCA connectors (tulip), Scart - connection of passive speakers;
  • line output - connecting active speakers if there are no special connectors;
  • HDMI ARC - connection of new equipment (home cinema or stereo);
  • headphone or headset output - can be used for speakers without special connectors;
  • SRDIF or TOSLINK optical audio output - for connecting to receivers, with an optical input.

Each speaker system has its own connection method. For speakers, the RCA port is used. Some speakers have a 3.5 mm jack; they require an RCA-TRS 3.5 mm adapter.
The line output is used to connect speakers through "+" and "-". On the rear panel they are represented by two pairs of connectors red (+) and black (-) colors.

Another modern way to connect is Bluetooth, through which a wireless connection is made to the speakers. The main condition of this method is the presence of the same function in acoustics.
